Sony Vaio PCG-GRT390ZP Hard drive replacementUse of this page implies that you are doing so at your own risk.
We had to replace a hard drive on a Sony Vaio PCG-GRT390ZP Laptop. It appears that some of the older Vaios required that you remove the keyboard to replace the drive. This model was designed so that you could remove 2 screws and remove the drive. You then simply remove the 4 screws holding the drive in the carrier, Reverse the process to install the new drive.
Note - Sony, for some reason that is beyond my comprehension, partitions the drive with about 15gig on the C and about 60GB as a D drive. This can be a real pain. When you are installing your software, make sure that you change everything so that it goes on the D drive. There is a Microsoft bulletin. You might want to check out http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310147 This will show you how to change the location of your My Documents Folder.
